Safeguarding Policy
Safeguarding Plan for Regent’s Park Music Festival
1. Introduction and Policy Statement
Regent’s Park Music Festival is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all attendees and participants, and our volunteers, especially those who are vulnerable. This safeguarding plan outlines our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone involved.
2. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Nancy Janin, Trustee, designated safeguarding lead, will oversee all safeguarding measures before, during, and after the festival. This will include training the volunteers in all aspects of safeguarding. Nancy Janin is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of this plan and coordinating responses to safeguarding concerns.
3. Risk Assessment
A comprehensive risk assessment of the festival site and activities has been conducted to identify potential hazards and risks to vulnerable individuals. Mitigation measures have been implemented accordingly.
4. Staff Training
All festival volunteers will receive training on recognizing signs of abuse, appropriate behavior, and reporting procedures. Training sessions have been conducted to ensure staff are equipped to handle safeguarding concerns sensitively and effectively.
5. Accessibility
The festival site, located within a Royal Park, is fully accessible to individuals with disabilities, with provisions such as wheelchair access, accessible toilets, and designated viewing areas.
6. Safe Spaces
Safe spaces have been designated within the park where individuals can seek support or assistance if they feel unsafe or distressed. These spaces are staffed by trained volunteers who can provide appropriate support and referrals.
7. Identification and Support
Measures are in place to identify vulnerable individuals, including those with disabilities, mental health conditions, or who are at risk of exploitation. Volunteers will be alert to any children who do not have an adult visibly supervising them and will undertake all efforts to reconnect such children with the adult in charge. Volunteers have means to contact support services, including medical assistance.
8. Security and Crowd Management
Trained volunteers monitor crowd behavior and respond to incidents promptly and appropriately, contacting the Royal Parks agent in charge and/or police if need be. Crowd management strategies are implemented to ensure the safety of all attendees and participants.
9. Collaboration with External Agencies
Regent’s Park Music Festival collaborates with local authorities, emergency services, and relevant safeguarding organizations to coordinate responses to safeguarding concerns. Clear communication channels and protocols are established for information sharing and referrals.
10. Reporting Procedures
Attendees, participants, and volunteers can report safeguarding concerns or incidents to the Designated Safekeeping Lead and/or the Event Manager who will address these promptly in line with relevant legislation and guidelines.
11. Review and Evaluation
Regular reviews and evaluations of the safeguarding plan are conducted to identify areas for improvement. Feedback from attendees, participants, and volunteers is solicited to inform future safeguarding efforts.
This safeguarding plan reflects our dedication to prioritizing the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in the Regent’s Park Music Festival. We are committed to continually improving our safeguarding measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
